5 Min Rom Com- Bobby Ramanathan

This was a short film i worked on as Sound Mixer for a day while the original sound mixer was sick.
It was about a man going for a dating interview and how technical and personal it's all becoming whereas all the wants to do is actually talk to the woman, he ends up winning her over by reciting her own poetry he found online.

The set and the actors rehearsing while i set the levels and got my notes ready
The sound equipment i was using during the day

The assistant director watching the rehearsals closely

Delicacy- Helen Curran

This was a short film written and directed by Helen Curran.

About

Delicacy is a horror/thriller set during WWII. Two soldiers find themselves trapped in a church cellar in France. Both must survive without resources.
Description
Set in 1940 during the retreat to Dunkirk, France, severely injured Sergeant Thompson and inexperienced Private Barnes find themselves trapped in a church cellar. They have no resources and up above rages a battle they aren't equipped for. Two soldiers, from very different class backgrounds find their sanity put to the test.

I worked with Mike Parker on this and i feel i learned a ton of new stuff like managing my responsibilities and helping the director with ideas and notes during rehearsals.

The Director giving the actor some notes before a take

Before a take when the art department took out one of the flats so we could get different shots and coverage of the scene.
The 2 monitors for the crew to watch the action on
I had to take stills of each shot for reference in the future when we do the reverses, I also had to remember exactly where the blanket was on his legs for this scene.

The camera department setting up for a take
Mike Parker the DOP discussing the lighting arrangements with the sparks

I took photo's of the set every time they moved things around so i could remind them of the continuity
The DOP getting his shots right so he know how to light the scene and the assistant director helping out
Part of the creative set that I liked
The art department changing the set back so it matches the last take, they used the pictures i previously took of the last set layout.
The actors make up was amazing in this short film, this is another still so I knew what shots we had yet to do
Another still of the shot of Barnes, the soldier coming in to dress the sSergeant wounds

Stills from the set before they packed away, i then sent these to the director so she knew where everything was.
This was me discussing with the Heads of departments the next shots

This was me before the shoot, highlighting which scenes and dialogue we'll be shooting

Boy in a billion- Lucy Lincoln

This was a short sweet shoot about a modern day baby Jesus and how people would react with the paparazzi and news papers spreading the story and the family having to constantly be on the run to protect the child throughout its life.

I was the assistant producer for this shoot, i helped out everywhere i could and made call sheets and crew data sheets as well as looking for locations and actors that i met up with. On the day i also helped out wherever I could, making cups of tea for the actors and serving dinner, at one point i even acted as part of the paparazzi.

This was the mother actor rehearsing and letting the baby get used to her so the scene was more natural.
The father actor practicing his action during one of the scenes
The director telling the paparazzi actors what she wants from them before a take.

The birth scene, which was acted out amazingly well.
The art department making sure she looked sweaty enough during the birth scene
Me recording the sound from the scene so we can use it at a later date

The D.O.P checking on the monitor that everything looks perfect during a take.

'Ready' by Laura Blake

                                                'Ready'

Ready is a short film i helped work on by a final year student called Laura Blake. The story is about a young lesbian couple that run away together. It's a short, sweet drama.

Below are images of the before and during shoot, you can see the crew getting prepared and the director going for rehearsals with actors before and on the shoot along with the crew working hard during takes. My notes are also here to show i was prepared before the shoot began and ready to go!

I went on a location recce with the sound mixer, D.O.P and Director. It will be shot in Fletcher moss park outside this little cafe, we will be using the chairs and tables to the left of the cafe as a meeting point for the actors.

The director and D.O.P discussing the shots before I was a stand in actor for them to take pictures of for the shot list.

Laura Blake the Director talking to the actors during a rehearsal i attended a week before the shoot, the actors worked really well together and hardly got any lines wrong at all, they were really natural
together.
                                                                  The shoot day!

'Andrew' - Indictus

This was a short film i worked on for a day in Bramhall for a company called Indictus. I started out shadowing Amy MacIntyre as a script supervisor until the started to use camera B which is where i stood in and script supervised for real. i worked with a good cast such as Georgia Taylor who played Toyah Battersby in Coronation street amongst other things.

The story was about a mans girlfriend who becomes increasingly obsessed with the main character Andrew, he tolerates it until he can't anymore and he finally leaves the house in a pride-less mess.

On this shoot i worked with Mark Davenport, the director and Dan Lightning.

Camera Operator and focus puller preparing for a shot
The Script supervisor watching the shot to make sure the continuity matched the master shot.
The art director making sure the oven clock is on the same time as the previous scene while the boom operator checks where he can move without being in shot or casting shadows.
My notes and the script during takes

The main actor 'Andrew' I took a picture of what he was wearing so the script supervisor for the following days will know exactly what he was wearing.

I took stills of each shot so we could match the framing in the next scenes.

Georgia Taylor, the other actor Lucy on the monitor during a take.

We had to wear bags on out feet as we were filming in a really posh house, I helped lay down some protective plastic on the floor.
A framing of the main actor during his main scene.

The director Mark Davenport directing the next shot and frame.

The female actor rehearsing her lines while the crew set up for the next shot.

One of the main shots that needed to be matched up to the master shot, the director and D.O.P went of this shot i took.

An over shoulder shot of the Camera operator and focus fuller filming the shot while the director and script supervisor watch.
The stop watching and sheets i was using before a take.

The director telling the crew what kind of shot he wants to match up to.
Our green room, yo can see the floor protective plastic i helped lay down

The hamster that was a big part of the story line, i played with it a few times, it was really tame, we had to entice it in to shot with food.
